Think of me as a sounding board

Everyone needs help from someone outside their business who can be honest and objective. Someone who listens to their ideas, problems or concerns, brings things to the table, provides perspective, adds accountability and most importantly has their best interests at heart.

As well as trusting me to guide them with their bookkeeping and accounting, taxation matters, cashflow etc. they want my advice on how to grow their business, take care of their future and make sure that they have a good lifestyle as well. Because life shouldn’t be all about work.

What I do for my clients

My clients choose me because they want somebody they trust to help them on their journey, long-term. I tend to work with family businesses and many of them have been with me for over 20 years. In fact, with a number of them I have worked with two generations of the family or more.

Of course, everyone’s different and it depends on what each individual client needs, but there are a number of roles that I tend to play…

• Often it’s devil’s advocate
• Help my clients to see the bigger picture
• Encourage them to get out of their comfort zone and realise their fuller potential (some clients know they’re stuck in their business, others don’t)
• Communicate with or ‘hassle’ the banks on their behalf
• Others I help get rid of the shoebox or filing cabinet of paperwork and get them onto cloud computing, especially Xero (most of them can’t believe how much easier it makes their life)
